A MAREEBA woman will appear in court tomorrow morning over the alleged stabbing of a man.

Police were called to a disturbance in Constance St, Mareeba, about 1.05am this morning and found a 52-year-old man with stab wounds to his chest.

He remained in a stable condition at the Cairns Base Hospital yesterday.

The 42-year-old woman was charged this afternoon with unlawful wounding and she is expected to appear in the Cairns Magistrates' Court tomorrow.

It is alleged she stabbed the man using a bladed instrument.
