Former Cairns principal faces $9m fraud charges
AUSTRALIA'S top indigenous college ex-principal Jean Illingworth faces fraud-related charges after she allegedly dishonestly obtained nearly $9 million in government funding for her former school.
Queensland Fraud Squad detectives ended a highly politicised, nearly two-year investigation with the arreset of the former Djarragun College Limited head in Cairns yesterday.
Ms Illingworth, 65, (pictured above) of Kuranda, presented herself to the Cairns police station before she was charged and bailed to appear on two counts of fraud in Cairns Magistrates' Court on January 31.
