Smithfield woman charged with murder

BREAKING NEWS: A SMITHFIELD woman will appear in Cairns Magistrates Court this afternoon charged with murder following the death of a six-week-old child last year.

The woman, 37, was charged after a six-month investigation by Far Northern police and the State Crime Operation Command’s Homicide Investigation Unit.

The toddler died on August 10.
