Justin Timberlake returns with new single and relaunch of Myspace
Mr SexyBack is back. Justin Timberlake released his new single, Suit and Tie, across the globe this week.
It features rapper Jay-Z.
The upbeat jam is the 31-year-old's first musical offering since 2006's critically-acclaimed FutureSex/LoveSounds.
His third solo album, The 20/20 Experience, will be out later this year.
In a letter posted on his website, Timberlake said he started recording music in June.
He wrote that the "inspiration for this really came out of the blue".
Timberlake co-wrote and co-produced the song with Timbaland, Shawn Carter, Jerome "J-ROC" Harmon and James Fauntleroy. Timbalandproduced much of the Grammy Award-winning FutureSex/LoveSounds and is recognised as a driving force behind Timberlake's success.
The buzz around the pop star's return to music kicked off last Friday when he posted a video on his website that showed him walking into a studio, putting on headphones and saying: "I'm ready".
Timberlake also used the new single's release to promote the New Myspace, after he bought the long-standing social media service for about $US35 million ($33.3 million) from the previous owner News Corporation (owner of The Cairns Post) in 2011.
Timberlake has grand plans of returning the former giant of social media to its previous glory, with a full redesign and a renewed focus away from people and on music, film and television content.
New features include The Discover section, which includes trending artists, users, videos and music; a streaming radio section with genre stations similar to Spotify, Rdioand Pandora (without commercials) and the Mixes section, that revives the age-old mixtape for the modern era.
After a period of beta testing, The New Myspace now allows registrations from users. To get onboard, visit new. myspace.com and register your details.
