Cairns catwalk girls hope for their call to fame
THREE Cairns models are waiting for the phone call of a lifetime, after they impressed judges at FOX8's Australia's Next Top Model auditions in Townsville.
Aimee Chirio, 16, of Lulu's Model Management, Brittany Balsamo, 17, of Cachelle Model Management, and Jade Hawkins, 18, are three of just 11 girls who made it through the catwalk and interview auditions last week, and are now waiting to hear whether they will join 48 others at the national final in Sydney.
If they're successful, they could become household names when the eighth season of the show is broadcast nationally this year.
Aimee said the Townsville auditions were nerve-racking initially, but also fun.
"I was really nervous to begin with, but as soon as I got there it was a comfortable atmosphere," she said.
She was also comfortable during her catwalk audition for famous Australian fashion designer Alex Perry and talent scouts from New York and Paris.
"They said I had a good walk, so I was happy," Aimee said.
Brittany said she would also be "stoked" to receive a phone call asking her to go to Sydney.
"I was really happy," she said.
Eighteen-year-old Jade said it would "mean the world" to get through to the next audition.
