IF you have a passion for fashion, Shangri-La's is the place to be.

This year's Mark Dodge Volvo Passion for Fashion runway event kicks off for the first time in 2013 tonight, with Lulu's Model Management talent parading new season trends from Myer and local fashion designers.

Passion for Fashion, held on the last Friday of every month from January to October, will also support 10 local charities this year, with gold coin donations at the door and the auction of luxury goodies from Louis Vuitton and DFS Galleria.

Whytea Design owner Yvonne Turnbull, who will showcase her Audrey Hepburn-inspired collection Cafe Latte tonight, said she is looking forward to the electric Passion for Fashion atmosphere.

"It is really vibrant, people are here to catch up with friends and enjoy the latest fashion,'' she said.

"It's an opportunity to dress up and enjoy the evening, a great night out if you want to go somewhere where you can sit down, have a conversation, listen to some music, have a few drinks and watch a fashion show.''

Passion for Fashion runs from 7-9.30pm tonight at Shangri-La Hotel's Ba8 and a gold coin donation is required for entry, with money raised going to the FNQ Hospital Foundation Paediatric Playground Project.
