NEWCASTLE Jets' Far Northern recruit Zenon Caravella is relishing the opportunity for more game time after he was released by Adelaide United last week.
"Everything's been great so far. I feel already settled in," Caravella said.
"The set-up here and the facilities are top notch."
Having only made four appearances for United this season, the attacking midfielder will be looking to become a major part of Jets coach Gary van Egmond's plans as the team tries to cement a top-six finals
position.
The Jets currently sit fifth on the ladder.
"It's a very good side. In this league, if you put a couple of wins together you're right back up at the top of the table," he said.
"It's all very tight at the moment."
Working with the likes of former England and Liverpool striker Emile Heskey is also something that appeals to the former Edge Hill junior, describing him as a "a really nice guy".
"He's the focal point of the team in attack and obviously holds the ball up fantastically well," Caravella said of Heskey.
"It's great for me to be training alongside someone like him. You watch these guys (on TV) and they're now playing with you."
The 29-year-old's decision to leave Adelaide last Tuesday came only six days before former coach John Kosmina's sensational departure, with Caravella refusing to comment on the situation at his former club.
Meanwhile, van Egmond praised Caravella's recruitment in a recent article posted by the club's official website.
"His technical ability is very good in regards to using both feet, he can keep the ball under pressure very, very well and he's smart with his distribution," van Egmond said.
"I've seen enough quality from him to think that we're going to get really good value out of him."
Tune in to Fox Sports 1 on Saturday to watch Newcastle take on Sydney FC in their round 19 clash at Hunter Stadium from 4.30pm Cairns time.
