Ex-ALP candidate furious after being dumped as Far Northern candidate
NORMAN Miller was so sure he was the Labor Party's candidate in the federal seat of Leichhardt that he had badges made up in preparation for the campaign trail.
He was sent letters from the state and national ALP offices confirming his endorsement last year, and when a Christmas card came from Julia Gillard in December, it was addressed to the Labor candidate for Leichhardt.
So he was surprised when party bosses unceremoniously asked him to withdraw his candidacy and told him to nominate again in five or 10 years.
