Romance doesn't have to be exclusive to Valentine's Day with some of the region's homes boasting seclusion, enticing views and features to lure even a stony heart.

Anne and Tom Verevis are selling their Redlynch love nest after purchasing the secluded timber home five years ago.

“We purchased it through people we knew because we knew the quality was good and the location,” Mrs Verevis said.

“We love the privacy aspect of it because it is pretty well 100 per cent private, we are surrounded by trees and have magnificent views.”

Through renovation and expansion of the house, the Verevis' incorporated aspects of indoor and outdoor living.

“It feels like such a natural environment. We have the prevailing breezes all the time from the valley. It's resort-style living.”

Listing agent Debbie North of Elders Real Estate Cairns said the setting of the four-bedroom home offered an air of romance.

“You're in a very private location to start with at the end of the close and you go up this big long driveway to a hideaway,'' she said. ``You feel like you are away from the world.”

With a private inground pool, and views of mountains and the rainforest, Ms North said the atmosphere was welcoming for potential buyers.

Another hidden treasure boasting serenity, ambience and privacy is a timber lodge in Cleary Close in Gordonvale.

RE/MAX real estate agent Michael Barton said the current owners fell in love with the property after moving from Darwin.

“The openness of the property and the open plan, the timber structures and the way it has been done is very tasteful,” he said.

“The master bedroom is on its own with a balcony which overlooks the grounds of the property as well.”

With a focus on relaxed living and entertaining, the architecturally designed residence has a price tag of $875,000.

RE/MAX agent Kianna Lafferty recently listed a Whitfield cottage which she says carries a tale of two love stories.

“Originally built by a newly married couple as their first house, they went on to raise four children and then finally sold it to the current owners who updated it with all the modern conveniences while keeping with the period 1940s features,” she said.

“It has always been a home of great love and happiness and the sellers are keen to find another blissful couple.”
