BREAKING NEWS: A Kewarra beach man who allegedly distributed explicit photos of his ex-girlfriend was bashed by her brother and died soon after, a court has heard.

Joshua William Hickson has pleaded not guilty to manslaughter and is facing day one of a Cairns Supreme Court trial today.

The court heard he allegedly went to 44-year-old Gregory Elms’ Kewarra Beach home on January 22 with a friend to confront the man and take his phone which was said to have contained explicit pictures and footage of his sister.

It is alleged Mr Elms’ head was stomped on by Mr Hickson, but the official cause of death is unknown, the court heard.

The trial continues before Justice Jim Henry this afternoon.

More in tomorrow's The Cairns Post.
