Top local talent to take bow at The Cairns Post awards
AFTER four big weeks of online voting, the Far North's entertainment and arts scene celebrates its night of nights this Saturday, with The Cairns Post Hit Awards 2013 gala presentation at Gilligan's.
While the nominees still face a nervous wait to find out who came up trumps in the awards, a selection of the region's finest live music talent is now on board to perform, with The Montgomery Brothers, Louarde, Zilch and The Hillbilly Goats all locked in for this Saturday's event.
In this year's polling period, 24,166 votes were cast, making 2013's awards the most successful in the event's four-year history.
Acoustic singer-songwriter Louarde Thomas said she was looking forward to taking to the stage at the awards night this weekend, whether she takes out her category of Best Local Solo Artist or Duo or not.
"I'm very excited and really looking forward to it," Louarde told The Cairns Post.
"It's great to play at Gilligan's, too. I've never played there before."
The awards night is at Gilligan's on Saturday, from 8-10.30pm. Entry is free.
