Expo rings bells for couples in Cairns
THE North Queensland Wedding and Formal Expo attracted thousands of future brides to The Pier yesterday, but blokes were out in force as well.
More than 4500 people packed the expo between 11am and 3pm, browsing more than 100 exhibitors from venues and marriage celebrants to wedding dresses, flowers, cakes, shoes and more.
Events NQ event co-ordinator Sarah Whipp said there was a stronger male presence at the event than in previous years. "Last year, it was more groups of girls, this year there were more men with their partners," she said.
Cairns man Robert Wardrop, 24, who became engaged toAlex Butler, 21, last August said he is keen to have some input into their June 2014 nuptials.
"It's a real eye-opener," he said.
"There are so many different things to think about now. Some of the things we've seen today you wouldn't even think of.
"I think today is good because as much as it's the girl's wedding, it's just as much mine, so I want to have my input into it."
Ms Whipp said there were more bookings at the expo this year.
"The atmosphere was buzzing and positive, it was much more the correct demographic, less browsing, more booking," she said.
