'Just fix it' message on Cairns health funding

STOP the bickering and fix our health system.

That's the message from Queensland's peak medical group, which is fed up with the public blame game between the state and federal governments over who is responsible for the health cuts in the Cairns region.

The call came amid public outrage at the announcement that up to 234 health jobs would be made redundant in the region, with unions and senior public doctors claiming Cairns Base Hospital was already under excess strain and could ill-afford to lose more resources or staff.
