FAR Northern police were forced to call in forensic chemists from Brisbane to inspect a highly toxic drug laboratory they deemed too dangerous to enter themselves.

Government chemists yesterday seized chemicals and equipment suspected of being used to produce methamphetamines from a Tableland home, which was raided by the Far Northern Drug Squad and local police late on Tuesday.

Detective Sen-Sgt Kevin Goan said police feared the property contained toxic fumes caused by ingredients such as phosphine and hydrochloride.

Full report in today's The Cairns Post.
