Cairns Blues Festival moves to Fitzroy Island Resort in 2013
THE Far North's biggest celebration of all things blues has found itself a new home in 2013.
After four years at Fogarty Park on the Esplanade, Cairns Blues Festival returns on Saturday, May 11 in the lush tropical surrounds of Fitzroy Island Resort.
Mixing the best in local, national and international blues with one of the region's true tropical jewels, Cairns Blues Festival organiser Pauline Langley told The Cairns Post that this year's festival promised to be the best for everyone involved.
"It's a beautiful environment out there," Ms Langley said.
"It's a bit of an adventure now, boarding a boat to a tropical island for a festival.
"The change has simplified our operation. It's better for punters, more attractive for the artists and good for the island, too."
Ms Langleysaid the full line-up was being finalised this week in time for tickets going on sale on March 11.
She confirmed Blues Festival favourite Mason Rack Band would return and Kiwi outfit Billy TK and The Grooveshakers would debut this year.
