Police investigate after woman dies during one hour wait for officers to arrive
AN INTERNAL police investigation is under way to determine why it took officers an hour to respond to a woman dying in her Edge Hill home after she was allegedly assaulted.
A Townsville man, 38, has been charged in relation to her death, which happened inside a unit at the corner of Boden and Jensen streets on Tuesday night.
The initial Triple-0 call was placed at 9.20pm but a crew did not arrive until an hour later, police said yesterday in a statement.
"Upon arrival police located an unconscious woman inside the residence," police said.
"Attempts to revive the woman were unsuccessful and the woman was pronounced deceased at the scene."
