I don’t like the word fashionista, or even the word fashion. To me, fashion implies currency, as in you can only be fashionable if you’re wearing the trends of the day or the season. Fashion suggests something temporary that you couldn’t possibly wear in six months time. I prefer the word "style".
Fashion is a blanket approach, a broad brushstroke dictating how you should dress, whereas style is a truly individual thing. Style can be up-to-the-minute and current and timeless, all at the same time. Style is effortless, or at least it should look that way no matter how much time and effort you’ve spent putting the outfit together.
For the next 30 days I’ll be testing the limits of my wardrobe – and probably my patience – to transform a little black dress into a new, different and, hopefully, stylish outfit. But that’s where you come in. Tell me what you think. And be honest. I don’t bite. Very hard.
